So yeah, if ‘Drive’ had been in a parallel universe, it probably would have been called ‘Dive’, and featured some impossibly cool customer that is slicker than Ryan Gosling, or more likely a James Dean who had actually fulfilled his potential. Except it would have taken place on an endless, open desert road, heading slowly but surely towards a searing sunset, as opposed to the inner arteries of LA. In a Mustang convertible, with Ray Ban Aviators you or I could never pull off in the same way. And this, most crucially, would certainly be the soundtrack.
